She speaks to your mother in your mother's tongue.

By Tapas Kar, founder · Last updated 2 October 2026

Meenira speaks eleven Indian languages — not a translation, the real thing, with the respectful forms and each language's own word for mother. Pick a language below to hear a sample call and read it with an English translation.

In most of these languages the words change shape depending on who is speaking and who is being spoken to. The verb your father uses is not the verb your mother uses; the way you address an elder is not the way you address a friend. Meenira knows the difference, and she calls your mother by the word your family does: Bou in Odisha, Aai in Maharashtra, Bebe in Punjab, Amma in the south.

Language What she calls your mother Sample call
Hindi माँ (Maa) Hear it
Bengali মা (Ma) Coming soon
Marathi आई (Aai) Coming soon
Telugu అమ్మా (Amma) Hear it
Tamil அம்மா (Amma) Hear it
Gujarati બા (Ba) Coming soon
Kannada ಅಮ್ಮ (Amma) Coming soon
Malayalam അമ്മ (Amma) Hear it
Punjabi ਬੇਬੇ (Bebe) Hear it
Odia ବୋଉ (Bou) Hear it
Assamese মা (Ma) Coming soon

All eleven sample calls can be played on the home page today. Six languages have a page of their own so far; the rest are being added three at a time.

If she switches language mid-call

Many parents move between their own language, Hindi and English in one sentence. Meenira begins in the language you chose and follows your parent: if your mother answers in Hindi or English, Meenira replies in that language and stays in it as long as she does.

Your summary is in English

Whatever language the call is in, the message you receive and the notes on your Home page are in plain English, with the parent's own words kept in their script where they matter.
