The best ways to check on elderly parents in India, compared honestly
There are four kinds of help: a care manager who visits (from about ₹2,000 a month), an app on your parent's smartphone (free to ₹300), a device in their home (a one-off cost plus a plan), and a phone call from an AI assistant (₹300–800). They do different jobs. Most families end up with a care manager for the in-person month and a daily call for the mornings in between. We make one of these — Meenira — and say so below.
Last checked 2 October 2026. Prices and plan contents come from each company's own site on that date and will change; the links at the end go to their pages. Meenira is ours, and we have tried to describe the others as they describe themselves.
Four kinds of help, four different jobs
A care manager who visits. A person in your parent's city who accompanies them to the doctor, runs errands, coordinates an emergency, and visits on a schedule. The daily layer, where it exists, is a phone call from a coordinator on a roster.
An app on your parent's smartphone. Reminders, "I'm okay" taps, SOS buttons, and in the newer ones an AI to talk to. Works only if your parent owns a smartphone and will open the app.
A device in their home. A speaker or tablet that talks, reminds and connects. Needs Wi-Fi and a parent willing to learn it.
A phone call from an AI assistant. Rings an ordinary phone at a set time, has a short conversation, and reports to the family. Nothing for the parent to learn.

How to read the table
The column that matters most is "what the parent needs". Every option that needs a smartphone, an app or a device fails in the same place: a parent who will not learn it. For a parent over seventy who has never used an app, the choice is really between a person visiting and a telephone ringing.
The care managers are not competing with the calls. Emoha's cheapest plan includes one human check-in call a week; its most expensive, five. The AI services call every day for a tenth of the price, but cannot accompany anyone to a doctor. A family with a parent who lives alone usually wants a monthly visit and a daily call.
Language is where the Indian and overseas products part. Nonni, JoyCalls, Meela and inTouch are good products for the families they are built for, and none of them will ring your mother in Odia, Malayalam or Punjabi. Among automated services for India, Silver Saathi covers Hindi and English on a smartphone, Reca covers 15+ languages on a device, and Meenira covers eleven on an ordinary phone.
Prices are published, or they are not. Emoha, Zospital, Silver Saathi, Reca and the overseas services publish theirs. Samarth, Anvayaa and Yodda quote on enquiry, because their plans are shaped to the parent; expect a few thousand rupees a month and up.
What we would choose, and why we are biased
We make Meenira, so read this paragraph accordingly. For a parent who lives alone or has a chronic condition, we would pair a care manager's monthly visit with a daily call in their language — ours or a coordinator's — and keep our own evening call for the things that are not a checklist. For a parent who is well and surrounded by family, a daily call alone is usually enough. For a parent who already uses a smartphone happily, a companion app is worth trying first, because it is nearly free.
Meenira's first month is free, so the cheapest way to find out whether your mother takes to a morning call is to let one happen.

Questions families ask
What is the best app to check on elderly parents in India?
It depends on whether your parent will use a smartphone. If yes, Silver Saathi is a free-to-cheap Hindi/English companion. If not — and most parents over seventy will not — you need something that reaches an ordinary phone: a care manager's call, or an AI check-in call like Meenira.
Care manager or AI call — which should I choose?
Both do different jobs. A care manager (Emoha, Samarth, Anvayaa) is a person who visits, accompanies to the doctor and coordinates emergencies, from about ₹2,000 a month. An AI call is a few minutes every morning in your parent's language for ₹300–800. Families with a parent who lives alone or has a chronic condition usually want both.
Which services call elderly parents in Indian languages?
Care managers from Samarth and Anvayaa are matched to the family's language. Among automated services, Meenira calls in eleven Indian languages on an ordinary phone; Silver Saathi works in Hindi and English on a smartphone; Reca's device works in 15+ languages over Wi-Fi. The US, Australian and European AI call services do not call in Indian languages.
